Record US oil export volumes will be heading to Asia next two months, Reuters reports. It threatens OPEC and Russia’s market share in Asia.

US will export 2,3 million barrels per day in June. About 1,3 million bpd will go to Asia.

Energy Information Administration data showed that US oil export reached its peak value of 2,6 million bpd two weeks ago.

On Monday US oil traded with more than $9 a barrel discount to Brent oil. This is the biggest discount in more than three years. The reason for that is rising US production.

Price difference gave Asian refiners a chance to reduce light oil import from the Middle East and Russia. They are planning to increase oil shipments from the US, if Aramco (Saudi Arabia) and ADNOC (UAE) does not reduce prices.

Sinopec company in China bought record amount of 16 million barrels of US oil to be shipped in June, reducing Saudi import. Today China is the largest importer of US oil. India and South Korea follow China. Each of them bought from 6 to 7 million barrels for June delivery.

However, despite Asia and Europe desire to buy more US oil, increase in shipments is restrained by existing export infrastructure.
