About 900000 salmon fishes escaped from Marine Harvest farm in Southern Chile as a result of storm, Bloomberg reports. This fish is not suitable for consumption, and company is trying to capture it.

Salmon sector earned $4 billion for the country last year. It was already under attack due to use of hundreds of tons of antibiotics and dead fish disposal that resulted in algae blooming. This seriously damaged fish industry of Chile.

Fishes that escaped after storm are not specific to the region and may harm other population. Its decomposition may cause another algae blooming.

Experts think that this situation in the region is similar to chemical bomb burst.

Marine Harvest announced that it will try to mitigate environmental damage.
