Swiss chocolate brand Lindt & Spruengli AG is planning new investments in the US, in order to compete more successfully with Hershey Co. and Mars Inc. on this market, Bloomberg reports. Size of investments will reach $200 million francs.

Producer of Lindor chocolate will be expanding its plant in Stratham, New Hampshire during four years. It will create high technology production line for premium chocolate. As a result, total area of facility will be more than 1 million square feet.

After years of stagnation, US chocolate market is finally reviving. Lindt announced sales increase in North America by 4% in first half.

When company bought Russell Stover in 2014, it became third largest chocolate producer in the US, however, it hurt profitability.

Besides, US market brought difficulties to such producers as Hershey Co. and Nestle SA. Last one sold its confectionary unit to Ferrero SpA.
