Walmart Inc demonstrated the highest quarterly sales growth in the US in decade, Reuters reports. Company also lifted estimates for yearly sales and profit. As a result, Walmart’s shares grew. Increase in online and grocery sales shows that company can successfully compete with Amazon.com Inc.

Walmart Inc demonstrated the highest quarterly sales growth in the US in decade, Reuters reports. Company also lifted estimates for yearly sales and profit. As a result, Walmart’s shares grew. Increase in online and grocery sales shows that company can successfully compete with Amazon.com Inc.

Walmart also modernized its website and added distribution point function to physical stores.

Recovery of sales compared with low levels in April was caused by higher spending on grocery, apparel and seasonal merchandise in the second quarter.

It shall be noted that Walmart shows sales growth in the US four years already. No other retailer could achieve it.

Wage gains, unemployment decline and tax reduction allowed Americans to spend more.

Walmart’s shares grew yesterday by 10% to $99,08. They lost about 9% in the beginning of this year.

E-commerce sales grew by 40% in second quarter. Company was able to increase international sales as well. They grew by 3,1%. Total revenue increased by 3,8% to $128 billion, which is higher than forecasted $125,97 billion.
