After South Korea became first major consumer of Iranian oil that decided to reduce import from this country to zero, the largest refiner started looking for alternative suppliers. And it was found…in the US, Bloomberg reports.

SK Innovation Co. is increasing shipments from the US to substitute for Iranian deliveries even before sanctions come into effect. Other options include Russia and Australia.

Deliveries from the US will also help to improve bilateral relations with the US, as last year this Asian country was accused of existence of trade deficit with America.

Tight Asian market represents an excellent opportunity for American suppliers of condensate, which is so popular with South Korean refiners, which buy oil from suppliers in Australia, Norway and Saudi Arabia.
