French government is getting ready to sell its stake in airline Air France KLM, which equals to 14% as of today, Reuters reports with the reference to Financial Times.

Supporting airline is quite expensive activity for the state that has other areas to spend its money on.

Air France KLM’s shares have already lost 40% this year, mostly due to strikes initiated by labor unions that request higher pay and improvement of working conditions.

French government today is the largest shareholder of Air France KLM. Delta Airlines and China Eastern Airlines own 8,8% each.
