Number of new vehicles registrations in Europe fell by 23% in September after new rules on emission testing came into effect, Bloomberg reports. In August this number grew significantly as autoproducers rushed to get cars out of factories before new rules are introduced.

Tighter testing methods were developed to get results, which are closer to real conditions. Volkswagen announced that it might face delays in deliveries this year due to new rules. Daimler informed about negative influence of these changes on the results of its operation.

Deliveries of new passenger cars grew in European Union and European Free Trade Association by 30% compared with last year.

Sales in September are still 2,3% higher than last year and accounted to 12 million cars. New rules took effect on September 1st.
