Apple Inc. made a decision not to report how many units of iPhone, iPad and iMacs it sold from the next quarter, and this decision was not accepted very well by investors, Bloomberg reports. And although some experts think that this is one more step to new business model focused on services, most analytics assume that this is an attempt to hide problems of stagnating smartphones market.

Apple Inc. made a decision not to report how many units of iPhone, iPad and iMacs it sold from the next quarter, and this decision was not accepted very well by investors, Bloomberg reports. And although some experts think that this is one more step to new business model focused on services, most analytics assume that this is an attempt to hide problems of stagnating smartphones market.

Stocks lost more than 6% on Thursday, putting at risk market value of Apple, which recently exceeded $1 trillion.

Apple always was one of few companies reporting details of units sales of its products. In 2015, when market was on a rise, information about iPhone’s unit sales increase by 46% was very impressive.

Now the situation at smartphone market has changed. Global shipments fell in third quarter by 8% compared with the last year. Apple announced that the sales of iPhone in last quarter were at last year level. According to the company’s leaders, data on unit sales does not provide clear picture of operation. Instead, Apple will focus on revenue and profits.
