Copper price falls for a second day on Wednesday, as tension in trade relations between the US and China has been growing ahead of the meeting between two countries next week, Reuters reports.

Copper price falls for a second day on Wednesday, as tension in trade relations between the US and China has been growing ahead of the meeting between two countries next week, Reuters reports.

US administration said yesterday that China failed in efforts to correct its unfair trade practices.

All base metals fell today at Shanghai Futures Exchange after turbulent trade yesterday, when global stocks and oil prices showed significant decline amid worries about future global economic growth.

LME copper price fell by 0,1% to $6176,5 per ton, while copper price in Shanghai reached the lowest level in almost a week.

Zinc price in Shanghai fell by 2,3%, and it dropped 0,3% in London. As a whole, metal has already lost 23% of its value this year. Zinc demand on behalf of automobile sector in China declined in October, while supply has been growing faster than was expected.

Aluminum output grew to 5,414 million tons in October from 5,301 million tons in September. Price of aluminum in Shanghai fell to the lowest level since October 2016 (13635 yuan).
