Labor shortage, which threatens infrastructure construction projects across the country costing about $55 billion, may result in higher project costs, Bloomberg reports.

Labor shortage, which threatens infrastructure construction projects across the country costing about $55 billion, may result in higher project costs, Bloomberg reports.

Australia needs about 20-30 percent of required skilled personnel for construction of roads, airports and metros around the country. All builders in Australia faced the same problem, and this can increase spending on those projects.

Higher demand for skilled workforce may solve one of the mail economic problems of the country: slow wage growth. Central bank already is getting reports on increase of this factor.

Meanwhile, solving problem of labor shortage requires long-term approach that shall consist of wisely attracting of skilled workers from abroad as well as preparing personnel inside the country.
