Export from Japan to the US fell first time in 17 months, while optimism of Japanese companies is declining among concern over protectionism policy of President Trump, Reuters reports.

Decline in June was 0,9% compared with the same period of last year. Export of automobiles and semiconductors manufacturing equipment fell. These two positions are the key ones on Japan’s export list.

Last data confirms concern of Japanese companies that the US could initiate fixing of trade misbalance with Japan.

While volumes of American import were reduced by 2,1%, trade deficit between Japan and the US widened by 0,5% to $5,24 billion. This can result in introduction of protective barriers on behalf of the US.

As a whole global exports from Japan grew in June by 6,7%, import gained 2,5%.
