Vienne took first place as most livable city in the world, taking this title away from Melbourne that stayed at top for seven years, Bloomberg reports with reference to Economist Intelligence Unit.

Vienne took first place as most livable city in the world, taking this title away from Melbourne that stayed at top for seven years, Bloomberg reports with reference to Economist Intelligence Unit.

Austrian capital received 99,1 points out of 100 in index that evaluates cities according to such criteria as stability, healthcare and environment. Australian and Canadian cities took six places out of top ten. First US city appeared in ranking is Honolulu (23rd place).

Big financial centers, such as London (48th) and New York (57th) suffered from their own success, as they differ by overpopulation, busy transport system and high level of crime.

Hong Kong (35th) outperformed Singapore (37th) in the last ranking by improving stability criteria.

Osaka (3rd) and Tokyo (7th) went up to the highest positions in more than a decade due to lower crime level and better work of public transport.

Most cities having higher grades are mid-sized cities from wealthier countries with low density of population.

Damascus (Syria) suffered from the war was placed at the bottom of the list.
